German melancholic heavy metal group The Night Eternal have released their latest single and video “The Veins Of Time”, taken from their forthcoming album “Cold Velvet”, which arrives on the 21st of August through Metal Blade Records.

“The Veins Of Time” is the third single from the record and introduces a striking shift in atmosphere. Opening the B‑side of “Cold Velvet”, the track begins with a hypnotic, post‑punk influenced goth introduction that gradually builds into a powerful, dreamlike heavy rock composition. Ricardo Baum delivers a commanding vocal performance that intertwines with Rob Richter’s expressive guitar solo, creating a dramatic and emotionally charged finale.

A distinctive new chapter for The Night Eternal

With “Cold Velvet”, the band refine their signature blend of darkness, ritualistic rhythm and deep melancholy. The album channels shadowy riffs, trance‑like grooves and soaring choruses into a cohesive and atmospheric body of work. Their ability to merge classic heavy metal attitude with gothic unease has resulted in a sound that is unmistakably their own.

Recording took place between the 1st of May and the 31st of December 2025 at Church Of Sound Studios near Munich. Production and mixing were handled by Michael Zech of Secrets Of The Moon, known for his work with Sulphur Aeon, Triptykon and The Ruins Of Beverast. His background in black and death metal brought a renewed intensity to the sessions and offered a fresh perspective on the band’s eighties‑inspired foundations.

The band describe the collaboration as one of genuine creative understanding. Zech’s involvement felt less like external production and more like the addition of a fifth member, a connection that is clearly audible throughout the record.
