About TheNwothm

What is TheNwothm?
TheNwothm is a webzine dedicated to traditional heavy metal, founded in 2023. We focus on new and rising bands as well as established acts that keep the old-school spirit alive, covering demos, EPs, full-length albums, interviews, and featured content from around the world.

What are your values?
We are first and foremost all about the music. We have no interest in gossip or negativity and want to focus on the bands we love and celebrate their music.

How are you funded?
TheNwothm is an independent, non-profit publication with no financial backing or editorial influence from large corporations. We operate primarily through fan support and occasional small-scale advertising from carefully selected brands, festivals, and partners whose work aligns with our coverage.

It is important to note that advertising, donations, sponsorships, and partnerships do not buy, guarantee, or influence reviews, interviews, features, publication, or favourable coverage of any kind. All editorial decisions are made solely on the basis of musical merit and relevance to our coverage area.

Where do donations go?
Contributions are used to support the operation and development of TheNwothm.

For Bands & Artists

How do I get my band featured on your site?
If your music fits our coverage, we will consider it for possible inclusion on the site. Submitting material does not guarantee coverage.

What genres do you cover?

We primarily cover NWOTHM, epic heavy metal, heavy doom, and NWOBHM. We also cover crossovers with speed metal and power metal. There are many layers to heavy metal — send us your music and if it fits what we cover, we will get you on the site. Below are some of the styles we feature:

  • NWOTHM
  • Epic Heavy Metal
  • NWOBHM
  • Epic Heavy Doom
  • Heavy Doom
  • Traditional Heavy Metal
  • Speed Metal
  • Crossover Genres

Does submitting guarantee coverage?

Submitting material does not guarantee a review, interview, feature, or publication. We receive a large number of submissions and can only cover a portion of them. Coverage depends on queue position, musical relevance to our focus, and bandwidth. Please do not send repeated follow-up emails — we will get in touch if we plan to run coverage or would like to discuss further opportunities.

My band wants to be interviewed!

For interviews, please reach out via the contact form or by emailing thenwothm@gmail.com. If there is a particular topic you would like to discuss, please let us know. The more information you supply about the band, the easier it will be for us to put together a great set of questions.

Where does coverage get promoted?

If we cover your band, a post will be created on the site and pushed out across our social media channels including Facebook and Instagram. We also encourage bands to share and tag our content and link back where possible.

How do I get featured on your gig listings?

Submit your show via the contact form or via email. Please include the bands/festival name, date, location, country, and event link. If your show fits within what we cover, we will do our best to add it to the listings.

Promotions & Partnerships

How do partnerships and advertising work?

TheNwothm is a fully independent platform with no corporate ownership, investment, or editorial influence. We operate autonomously and are not affiliated with any major corporations or media conglomerates. Our editorial decisions, reviews, and coverage are determined solely by our passion for traditional heavy metal.

Advertising, donations, sponsorships, and partnerships do not buy, guarantee, or influence reviews, interviews, features, publication, or favourable coverage of any kind. Any partnership or advertising arrangement is kept entirely separate from our editorial output.

Writing for TheNwothm

We are always looking for passionate writers who live and breathe traditional heavy metal. No formal qualifications or prior publishing experience are required — if you can write clearly and enthusiastically about the music you love, we want to hear from you.

Contributors are welcome to pitch across a wide range of content: album and demo reviews, band interviews, news pieces, features, live reports, festival coverage, and other heavy-metal-relevant content within our editorial focus.

We particularly value contributors who are looking to get genuinely involved with TheNwothm over the long term. We are less focused on one-off contributions and more interested in building a dedicated team of writers committed to the site consistently.

At this time we are primarily looking for contributors based in the UK and Europe, as this best reflects our core coverage area and audience. Applicants from elsewhere are still welcome to apply — we will always consider candidates who demonstrate genuine commitment and a strong fit with our editorial direction.

To apply, please use the Write For Us link below. Include a brief introduction about yourself, your musical background, the type of content you would like to write, and — if available — a short writing sample or a link to previous work.
