Lockhart Announce Debut Album "City Pulse"

High Roller Records is proud to confirm the arrival of City Pulse, the debut album from Lockhart, a band whose melodic sensibilities and meticulous craft set them apart in the modern rock landscape.

While Lockhart’s sound nods towards giants such as Journey, Boston, Toto, Foreigner, REO Speedwagon and even Starcastle, the band’s creative core runs far deeper. Vocalist, guitarist and keyboardist Devon Kerr explains:

“People often hear the surface influences, and I’m grateful for the comparisons because those bands are monumental. But Lockhart isn’t a retro act. Beneath the guitars and vintage synths you’ll find threads of 50s doo‑wop, Brian Wilson’s harmonic world, and even choral music. The influences are endless.”

The album showcases Lockhart’s precision‑built songwriting across tracks including The Dose That Made You Poison, Under Fire, Before the Fall and Together as None. “For me, songwriting is intentional,” Kerr continues. “I carve out the time, build the structure, and the lyrics come last. Once the framework is there, every part is shaped and refined. Nothing on this record happened by accident.”

Although Lockhart’s melodic and occasionally pop‑leaning approach may surprise some traditional listeners, the band’s musicianship and attention to detail remain firmly rooted in the values of classic rock and metal. “Our music carries plenty that metal fans appreciate, but also something new,” says Kerr. “And for anyone still unsure, we’ve got Nick from Municipal Waste tearing through the lead on You Wouldn’t Know Love, and Ian from Cauldron appearing on Can’t Shake It.”
