Cloven Hoof will return this autumn with their new studio album “Never A Prophet In Your Own Land”, confirmed for release on the 25th of September 2026 through High Roller Records.
The first advance track, “Iron Mask”, has been issued together with a lyric video now available at:
The band’s current era began when founder and bassist Lee Payne revealed that Harry Conklin, known to many as The Tyrant, had joined Cloven Hoof after relocating to Greece. Conklin stepped into the role once held by Russ North, a vocalist held in high regard by long‑time followers of the group. His arrival was met with strong enthusiasm, and the band’s first collaboration with him, “Heathen Cross”, released in 2024, received widespread praise.
“Never A Prophet In Your Own Land” marks the tenth full‑length album in the Cloven Hoof catalogue. Payne highlights Conklin’s contribution once again, noting that the vocalist’s performance reaches an exceptional standard throughout the record. Payne comments that the acclaim belongs entirely to Conklin and that the band is fortunate to have such a commanding frontman.
Although the new album follows “Heathen Cross”, Payne explains that it does not continue its predecessor’s atmosphere. “Heathen Cross” carried a darker and more brooding character, while “Never A Prophet In Your Own Land” naturally leans closer to the spirit of “A Sultan’s Ransom”. Payne adds that this similarity was not intentional, but simply the direction the material took as it developed.
The album presents a wide range of moods and tempos, moving between mid‑paced tracks, faster pieces, epic arrangements and straight heavy metal songs.
Recording took place at Vault Studios in Kidderminster with Chris Dando and Ben Fitzharris. Mixing and mastering were handled by Patrick W. Engel at Temple Of Disharmony. Dimitar Nikolov created the cover artwork, layout and design.
