Live Review: Ninth Circle at the House of Blues Anaheim (Anaheim, CA), June 12, 2026

In 2025, I had the privilege of diving into Ninth Circle’s newest album, Anthem of the Immortal, a record that affirmed their legacy and showed they are elder statesmen in metal. Five years after their previous release, the Southern California trio returned with a power‑metal barrage that is declaration of what is to come. And now, in 2026, the band stands at the threshold of their 30th anniversary: three decades of grit, melody, and unbroken devotion to the craft.

They chose to celebrate the milestone with something meaningful: intimate shows for the fans who have carried them since 1996. Dennis Brown, the enigmatic voice at the center of the storm. Richie Brooks, the rhythmic warhorse behind the kit. Frank Forray, the bass‑driven reactor core. Together, they announced a surprise hometown performance in the hidden penthouse loft of the House of Blues Anaheim Foundation Room. A secret show in a secret room. A perfect setting for a band returning to its roots.

The elevator ride up felt like ascending into a vault. When the doors opened, I found Richie himself… relaxed, energized, and radiating that pre‑show electricity only drummers seem to possess. Inside, the Foundation Room glowed with warm light and polished wood, a modern bar anchoring the space as fans filtered in. I grabbed a seat close to the action, and soon Frank drifted over, carrying enough positive voltage to light up the entire venue. Ninth Circle fans know this well: he thrives on connection, and the room responded in kind.

The merch table was a miniature museum of the band’s history… recent releases, 30th‑anniversary shirts, their signature hot sauces, and assorted relics for diehards to claim. You could feel the hometown pride. These weren’t casual listeners. These were lifers. People who had followed the band through every era, every lineup shift, every triumph.

As the set time approached, the energy tightened. Conversations softened. The room leaned forward.

Then the trio stepped into position.

No fanfare. No theatrics. Just three musicians ready to wage a sonic campaign.

They opened with “Angels Share,” a fan favorite that immediately detonated the room. Without hesitation, they launched into “Riding the Storm,” and from there the night became a fast‑moving chronicle of their legacy. It was an eight‑song set pulling gems from across their catalog. Dennis commanded the space with that unmistakable voice, Richie hammered the foundation with precision and fury, and Frank’s bass lines roared like a reactor at full burn.

By the end, the band was drenched from sweat, effort, and thirty years of history poured out onto the floor. The crowd answered with equal force, giving back every ounce of energy and then some. When the final notes faded, fans lined up in an endless procession to shake hands, share memories, and celebrate the milestone with the men who made it possible.
