Axxion return with “Moonlight”, their first new single in a decade, now officially out and streaming worldwide. The Toronto heavy metal force have been quiet on the release front since “Back in Time” and the 2016 single “Headbangers,” but not because the fire went out. Members have spent recent years deeply involved in other projects – including Dirty D Kerr and Jason Decay’s work with Lockhart – while still keeping the Axxion spirit alive behind the scenes.
“Moonlight” showcases the core elements that defined Axxion’s rise in the early 2010s: sharp, melodic guitar work, tight rhythmic drive, and Dirty D Kerr’s unmistakably powerful, velvety vocal delivery. It’s a confident reminder of the band’s identity and a clear indication that their creative spark never faded during the hiatus.
The current line‑up – Dirty D Kerr (vocals), Sir Shred (lead guitar), Jason Decay (bass) and Emily Anne (drums, backing vocals) – recorded the single independently, staying true to their roots as a self‑driven, self‑powered metal outfit.
“Moonlight” arrives as the first sign of a new chapter. After years away, the band are firmly back in the saddle and already hinting at more activity to come and new limited edition shirts are on the way. This is just the beginning!
“Moonlight” is out now on all major streaming platforms.
