Our new chapter begins…
A few years ago, I started this journey with a simple idea and a deep passion for NWOTHM. What began as a small website has since grown bringing in more content, a growing audience, and even a dedicated team. And now, in 2025, we’ve reached an exciting new chapter.
When we first launched, the logo was just a cool font I found online and tweaked. It served us well, but as the site evolved, I began to feel that we needed something more; something uniquely ours. Looking at other e-zines and music outlets, I knew it was time for thenwothm.com to have its own identity.
And now, we do!
Creating a distinctive brand has always been part of the long term goal. To make the site self sufficient so we can focus on what truly matters: the music. Thanks to some light promotion and the incredible generosity of our supporters, we were able to take a big step forward.
We launched a GoFundMe campaign, and in a short time, we raised £240 which was far beyond our expectations. Not only did that cover the cost of the new logo and branding, but we even have a little left over to put towards future site expenses.
To everyone who donated (you’ll find your names listed below): thank you so much for your support. Your generosity means the world to all of us here at thenwothm.com.
With our new visual identity in place, we’re more focused than ever on growing and solidifying our place in the NWOTHM scene; bringing you interviews, news, reviews, and more. A big part of what drives us is the sense of community around this music. We believe in collaboration, supporting one another, and building something meaningful together. This site has always been about more than just content, it’s about connecting people through a shared passion for heavy metal.

Introducing the artist behind the artwork
Believe it or not I use to be in a heavy metal band and from that period we discovered a wonderful and talented artist called Andrej Bartulović aka All Things Rotten. He has worked with hundreds of bands and labels creating some absolutely killer designs and so knowing how he worked and how dedicated and passionate he was about his craft I opted to work with him again.
The goal behind the new design was to capture the spirit of classic heavy metal; bold, powerful, and unmistakably electrifying. After sharing some visual influences, we landed on a striking concept: a clenched fist wrapped in crackling electricity, set against an intense orange, star-filled background. The updated thenwothm.com logo seamlessly integrates with the electric currents, making it feel like a natural part of the artwork while reinforcing the energy and identity of the brand.

Future plans
Looking ahead, we hope to eventually offer merchandise featuring the new logo—things like stickers, patches, and maybe even t-shirts. The goal is to create another revenue stream to help keep the site self-sufficient and sustainable so we can stay focused on the music. We’ll be starting small with lower-cost items, and if there’s enough interest, we may launch another fundraising campaign down the line to support expanded merch such as t-shirt options and future site developments.
