Interview

TheNwothm: Can you introduce yourselves and tell us a little about the members of
Sadistic Force?

S.F: Sadistic Force is a Blackened Speed Metal band from Austin, TX.

The members are:
Myself (James Oliver) – Guitar/Vocals
Mike Gupta – Bass/Backing Vocals
JP Campo – Drums

TheNwothm: You formed in 2020—how did the band come together and what led to the
creation of Sadistic Force?

S.F: I was sort of between musical projects at the time and had the urge to write some songs in a
similar style to what my favorite bands play. I decided to create a new project and strike quick and
hard. The earliest three releases feature me playing bass as well as guitar.

TheNwothm: Where are you all from, and how does your local music scene influence the
band’s sound and style?

S.F: I’m originally from San Antonio, TX which is close to Austin. Mike is originally from India and JP
hails from Colombia. We all found ourselves as part of the central Texas heavy music scene when
this iteration of the band came together. There are a ton of great bands in the Austin music scene,
but I am not particularly creatively inspired by anyone locally. Most of the influential bands for me
are from overseas.

TheNwothm: What’s the heavy metal scene like in your area, and do you feel part of a larger
underground movement?

S.F: There are quite a few metal bands in this area and a relatively strong local scene of heavy music
fans. I do feel like a part of a larger underground movement of Black Speed/Black Thrash/Black n’
Roll bands. There’s a certain sound that I can’t get enough of and am glad to have collaborated
with and done trades, etc. with bands from other parts of the world playing similar music!

TheNwothm: Looking back on your discography, you’ve released several EPs and full-
length albums. How has your sound evolved from “Pain, Sex, and Rapture” to “Midnight
Assassin”?

S.F: Maybe the songwriting is a little more refined just from doing the project for a while. I still really like
Pain, Sex, and Rapture and think the songs hold up well.

TheNwothm:”Black Moon Sadism” was released the same year as your first EP in 2021.
What was the creative process behind those releases, and did they shape the direction of
the band?

S.F: I was inspired by the positive reception to the first EP that happened pretty much immediately
online and decided to fire off a few more songs to keep that interest and momentum building in the
underground. I was excited to write more music and see where this project could go.

TheNwothm: What can fans expect from your 2023 full-length album, “Midnight Assassin”?
How do you feel it compares to your previous work?

S.D: The band had been playing live regularly for a while at that point and I think the album has sort of a live
“people jamming together in a room” energy to it. That album also has a horror flick vibe to it. The
music video for Midnight Assassin ties that theme in and is a companion piece to the album cover.

TheNwothm: You released a split album, “Sadistic Rot,” in 2022. What made that
collaboration special for you, and how did you approach working with another band?

S.D: Hellrot is a band that I had been listening to when I first started Sadistic Force and was inspired by.
I approached them about doing it because I thought it would be a good combination. I really like
that split and one day I plan to see it released as a 7” record. Hit up
sadisticforceofficial@gmail.com if anyone has a label who’s interested!

TheNwothm: Your single “Speeding Black Leather Hell” in 2023 got some attention. What
was the inspiration behind this track, and how did it represent your growth as a band?

S.D: That one keeps me on my toes in terms of guitar chops! I think the album version is pretty damn
energetic and I’m really glad that people like it. Lyrically it has a BDSM theme, which is a topic that
has featured in a few songs so far and will again on our upcoming EP.

TheNwothm: You put out “Iron Rite” last year. Can you share details about that release and
how it might differ from your earlier music?

S.D: Iron Rite is the first release with Mike on bass. It’s a single we put out as soon as possible after the
lineup change that happened in January 2024 to make a musical statement of things to come while
we prepare for a more lengthy new release showcasing the new lineup.

TheNwothm: Are there any heavy metal bands that are currently making waves in the scene
that you think are particularly “hot” or influential right now?

S.D: We are friends with a Thrash band called Electrocutioner that is really good. I’ve heard a preview
of their unreleased new material, and it kicks ass. In terms of bands in our scene right now it
seems like Hellripper is pretty damn hot. As far as traditional heavy metal goes, I am a big fan of
Ambush.

TheNwothm: Where can fans buy your music and merchandise? Is there a specific platform
or store you recommend for the best fan experience?

Bandcamp: sadisticforce.bandcamp.com
Bigcartel: sadisticforce.bigcartel.com
Our official website is: www.sadisticforce.com
Our Instagram account @sadisticforceofficial is a good platform to find out about new merch and
everything else.

TheNwothm: What is the message you want your music to convey to listeners? How do you
feel your music connects with your fans on a deeper level?

S.D: I want to convey the message of real Metal! There’s obviously a ton of horrible “core” garbage, etc.
out there and this music is for people who want the real deal! Our music connects with people who
live and breath Metal and have a deep understanding of the essential old school spirit!

TheNwothm: Anything else you would like to mention?
For any Texan readers out there, our show in Austin on December 14 th with Bewitcher is
going to be an exclusive one-off Texas show for them. So make sure to make the drive if
you can. It’s going to be a night that you won’t want to miss!
