TheNwothm.com is a non-profit, independent platform dedicated to supporting bands and the traditional heavy metal scene, and we’re looking for committed, passionate writers who live and breathe this music and genuinely want to contribute to the community on an ongoing basis.
This is a voluntary, unpaid role, but it’s a great way to get more involved in the scene, build experience, grow your profile as a writer, and see your work published on a dedicated metal site that exists to champion the bands you love.
What You’ll Do
You can focus on what suits you best—reviews, interviews, news, scene features, or live coverage—always written from a respectful, fan-focused point of view that helps bands reach more listeners and keeps the scene strong.
Who We’re After
We’re especially interested in writers based in the United Kingdom and continental Europe, but strong applicants from elsewhere are very welcome if they’re active in their local or online traditional heavy metal communities.
You don’t need years of experience, but you should be reliable, ready to communicate, meet agreed deadlines, and contribute regularly so that your work becomes a consistent part of what we publish.
What Matters Most
Good written English and some WordPress familiarity (or a willingness to learn) help, but above all we care about real passion for traditional heavy metal, a positive, collaborative attitude, and a genuine desire to support bands and make a meaningful, ongoing contribution to the wider scene.
Opportunities & Fair Expectations
As an active contributor, you may get to review new music before it’s officially released and interview bands. Press passes to shows or festivals may also be available, depending on your contributions to the site and overall availability.
If this sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you. Please apply through our Write For Us page or send us a message via the contact form, telling us a bit about yourself, your connection to traditional heavy metal, how you like to communicate, and what you’d like to write for the site on a sustained basis.
