Germany’s IRON KOBRA are poised to return in triumphant fashion, reaffirming their place among Europe’s most steadfast champions of raw, unvarnished heavy metal. Founded in 2008 with a clear purpose – to revive the wild, eccentric spirit of the genre’s earliest years – the band forged a sound steeped in the legacy of Iron Maiden, Cirith Ungol, Living Death, Manowar and Tank, sharpened further by a streak of punk grit. From the outset, their music carried an unmistakable bite: fast, hook‑laden and built for raised fists, sore necks and shouted choruses.
The group’s formative period was relentless. Their debut demo, “Cult of the Snake”, arrived in 2009, followed by the “Battlesword” EP in 2010. Extensive touring across Europe quickly cemented IRON KOBRA as a formidable live act. In 2012, they joined forces with Dying Victims Productions for their first full‑length, “Dungeon Masters”, a record that captured their early fire. Three years later, the band returned with “Might & Magic”, a more refined yet equally spirited successor.
Although the years surrounding the pandemic slowed their outward momentum, IRON KOBRA never ceased writing, rehearsing or performing select shows – even venturing as far as Japan. Now, after a long and determined climb back, the band re‑emerge with their most commanding statement to date.
New Album “Eternal Dagger”
IRON KOBRA’s new album, “Eternal Dagger”, marks a powerful reaffirmation of everything that defines them. While the striking cover artwork hints at a sci‑fi edge, the music within is unmistakably their own: classic, unfiltered heavy metal delivered with renewed conviction. Produced by Stefan Castevet (Vulture, Luzifer), the album bursts with energy from the first note, weaving together speed metal assaults, NWOBHM‑inspired anthems and towering epics.
Across its nine tracks, listeners will encounter the breakneck intensity of “Trembling Dungeons”, the melodic swagger of “Shibuya Nights”, and the sprawling drama of “Mountains of Madness”. The record channels the spirit of Exciter, Brocas Helm, Diamond Head and early Running Wild, yet remains firmly rooted in IRON KOBRA’s own identity – bold, eccentric and proudly traditional.
The Cult of the Snake has returned, armed with heavy metal hymns sharp enough to cut through steel.
