Release date:
From the thunderous streets of São Paulo comes Trovão — a heavy metal force formed in 2018, roaring with retro power and unshakable attitude. Their sound blends the raw grit of ’80s metal with a modern fire, channeling a nostalgic energy that feels both familiar and fiercely alive.
With themes of rock ‘n’ roll rebellion, epic fantasy, and the eternal struggle for power, Trovão made their mark with Prisioneiro do “Rock ‘n’ Roll” (2021), followed by the shadowy single “Seres Da Noite” (2024). Now, they’re back with “Diamante” — their boldest album yet, shimmering with classic metal riffs, larger-than-life choruses, and a spirit that refuses to fade.

Review
1. Preso Ao Passado kicks off the album with walking bass lines that feel like somethings cooking. I can hear a crowd clapping along as the band pumps things up! The pace picks up and I feel like I have joined a grand adventure. The guitar work is hot, the bass lines twist and turn and the synth beds feel like a warm sweet embrace. I just feel like I am flying through the skies with sunlight breaking clouds. The drumming hits hard hard and together the instrumentation feels like the ultimate force!
2. Seres Da Noite like Preso Ao Passado shimmers in the light majestically. One thing I particularly love is the production and how I feel I have stepped into a time machine and travelled back to the 80’s. The use of reverb creates this huge soundscape and makes the song feel like your in a temple or massive empty space. The rhythm guitars have that classic heavy metal tone and the sexy lead guitars are crystal clear and magnificently sing out into the huge void. Even the use of synths add that retro feel, like your travelling through time and space. The bands music is something I have heard briefly before but listening to this just reinforces the fact that I would love to see them live.
3. Trovão continues the voyage through the galaxies. There are driving rhythm guitars that add to the strength and power of the track while the glistening synths are plentiful and flowing. And considering I am on track three the lead solo work is what keeps catching my attention. I am absolutely fixated on the flurries of smoking licks and soaring scales that make appearances. Again the tones are absolutely spot on and the production really helps to feel the fire! But the bands attention to detail is something that I also admire. While there is so much going on I love the little things that you sometimes pick up in the background. The switch between between paces and focus on different instruments makes this track a real joy to listen to! Its hard to put into words I feel about this is just awesome!
4. Até o Fim opens laser focused with its synths before it soon enough chugs along with might and determination while Gustavos rich vocals take centre stage. The quality does not drop for a second as everyone in the band shines through, just showing how talented musicians they are. I feel like I am in a car aiming for the sunset with my hair blowing in the wind. Like I have no care in the world. The petrol is dripping while speed off into the night. Like other tracks before, there are moments where synths melodies snake through the song glowing spectacularly. The solo ignites and it just radiates feelings and pure emotions. Another amazing song indeed!
5. Olhos Da Cidade” opens with a gentler touch than the earlier tracks, setting a reflective mood with semi-acoustic guitar lines that ease the listener in. But the calm doesn’t linger for long—soon, driving drums, shimmering synths, and a thunderous bass swell into the mix, pushing the track into a rich, mid-tempo groove. It ebbs and flows beautifully, occasionally dipping back into its acoustic roots where delicate riffs glisten above the mix like sunlight through clouds. Now that we’re halfway through the album, it’s easy to picture this song lighting up a stadium—phone lights swaying, a wave of sound and emotion sweeping through the crowd. It’s another standout track, showcasing some electrifying lead guitar work that continues to elevate the experience.
6. Diamante is one of those tracks that reminds me why I live for heavy metal. The intro starts of with some powerful rhythm guitars chugging before the leads slowly creep in over the top. The synths just add to this epic sounding intro that slowly builds before we jump into the thick of it with quick picking guitars leading the way.The instrumental sections are a joy for the ears snd I love the huge chords that ring out on the verses letting the vocals shine through. Of course all of this is happening while the bass and drums are pushing everything forward tightly synched with one another. Theres a brief breakdown before you hit the solo section. It scorches the mix leaving smouldering burn marks! Gustavo continues to put everything he has got into his vocal delivery taking the song to its end.
7. Não Lembre Mais de Mim is next up and straight away we are hit with some tasty riffage. We go into a straight forward hard hitting 4/4 beat before more synths come in to add to the flow of the song! The album so far has been a massive ride and this track is no different. It feels a little calmer then some of the album at moments but the lead work once again just literally tears things apart! It absolutely shreds! The music like the rest of the album just feels classic and is pure gold and the tapping and shredding towards the end seal it perfectly!
8. Sociedade Corrompida’s opening is super catchy that I just want to pump my fist and stomp my feet like there is no tomorrow. Straight away I know that this is one of those feel good tracks that I am going to want to play over and over again. The riffs in this have me fixated and the velvety choruses have some big group chants that I know will get people singing along. The little lead parts from Igor and Gustavo that weave in and out are are just epic and that is not including the solo section! Holy cow, I think that the electricity just shot straight through my body, I just want to do some air guitar! The lead stuff is so intricate and the harmonies just come at at the right moments! I love how that the band know how to give listeners so much raw energy through their music!
9. Insanidade is the closing track for the album and the band change things up with some galloping guitar riffs, twinkling synth notes and airy beds that make you are literally floating on clouds. The chrous chants of Insanidade will get you joining in in no time. But one thing I have to mention is that through out the whole album, there has not been a shortage of passion and integrity driving the music the band has created. You truly feel the music and lyrics and you can tell it comes from the heart and this track is no exception. I honestly feel like sun is beating down on me while everything is drenched in its rays. It just feels glorious and I know I am going to be going back over this album multiple times. What a magnificent way to end an album!
Conclusion
Trovão is one of those gems in the trad metal scene that you need to hear. They are talented musicians that know how to write killer music that is tinged with retro nostalgia. If you want to travel back in time to those glory days and get dose of pure metal magic then there new album “Diamante” is for you! I have to say this will be strong contender for my top 10 of 2025!
