Fast Kutz was formed in 1984 by guitarist Kenny Nicholson, known for his work with Holland, Hammer, and Black Rose. The original lineup included Marty Clerkin (vocals), Neville Percivall (bass), and Paul Fowler (drums). During the recording of their debut album, Clerkin was replaced by Keith Davison on vocals. Ian Gillson (guitar) and Ian McLaughlan (bass) later joined the band.
Their only album, Burnin’, was released in 1987 on Ebony Records. It featured eight tracks and was later reissued on CD by Old Metal Records in 2013 with four bonus tracks from a BBC Radio 1 Friday Rock Show session broadcast on 26 June 1987.
The band received praise from Ozzy Osbourne during a BBC segment hosted by Tommy Vance. Ozzy described Fast Kutz as one of the most energetic bands he had heard and encouraged someone to sign them. The band attempted to contact his management but did not receive a response.
A second album was recorded at Ebony’s studio in the late 1980s but remains unreleased.
