It is a sad day today for fans of Judas Priest as it has been confirmed that the bands former drummer Les Binks has died at the age of 73. Judas Priest released the following statement on their social media ” We are deeply saddened about the passing of Les and send our love to his family, friends and fans. The acclaimed drumming he provided was first class — demonstrating his unique techniques, flair, style and precision.Thank you Les – your acclaim will live on…”
Les Binks provided the drumming for Judas Priest from 1977 to 1979, playing on the albums Stained Class, Hell Bent for Leather (known in the UK as Killing Machine), and the live album Unleashed in the East.
Following the release of Unleashed in the East, Binks parted ways with the band and was succeeded by Dave Holland, formerly of TRAPEZE.
In 2022, his legacy with Judas Priest was honoured when he was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame alongside other past members of the band. The occasion also served as his last live performance with the group.
