Wormholedeath Records is thrilled to welcome Ampicore, a groundbreaking heavy metal act that fuses history and storytelling into a thunderous musical experience. Led by visionary composer Frederic Frees, Ampicore is set to release its ambitious concept album, March Up Country – The Rock Opera, on May 16, 2025.
A sweeping historical epic set to the pulse of metal, March Up Country – The Rock Opera recounts the gripping true story of Xenophon’s March of the Ten Thousand—a treacherous journey undertaken by Greek mercenaries through perilous enemy lands in 401 B.C. This sonic masterpiece blends powerful riffs, soaring melodies, and raw emotion to bring history to life like never before.
“Signing with Wormholedeath is an overwhelming privilege for me. Carlo’s review of March Up Country – The Rock Opera was nothing short of inspirational. It was that same type of inspiration that motivated me to create the album in the first place. Fusing history with my favorite genre, Heavy Metal, was something I always wanted to do. I bow humbly in the shadow of the greats, especially Iron Maiden, whose footsteps I follow to March Up Country.”
— Frederic Frees

About Frederic Frees
A musician and storyteller at heart, Frederic Frees began his musical journey at the age of five, mastering piano before embracing bass guitar and composition. After decades in the rock scene of the ‘70s and ‘80s, he stepped away from music to explore his deep love of history, even considering a career in education. Now, his twin passions unite in March Up Country – The Rock Opera, a project born from years of dedication, research, and musical ingenuity.
Prepare to embark on a journey through time and metal—March Up Country – The Rock Opera arrives May 16, 2025, via Wormholedeath Records.
