Throw back Thursday: Gravestone (Germany)

Gravestone is a German heavy metal band from Illertissen, Bavaria, originally founded in 1975 as Heizkörper by Rudi Dorner and Mike Schmidt. After brief incarnations as Oregon and later 48 Crash, the group solidified its identity as Gravestone in 1977 under the influence of Berti Majdan. Initially rooted in progressive rock, they transitioned to heavy metal and released five studio albums between 1979 and 1986, including “Victim of Chains” and “Creating a Monster.” Though the band ceased recording after 1990, they reformed in 2019 with their classic 1985 lineup to perform select live shows under the Gravestone name, remaining active without plans for new material.
