As 2025 winds down, US heavy metal band Glacier have confirmed that recording is underway for their next full-length release. Drummer Adam Kopecky recently shared a personal update, assuring fans that while the band has kept a low profile this year, work behind the scenes has been steady and focused.
“Every pass increases our anticipation,” Kopecky shared. “We’re somewhere around halfway recorded overall but enough to be able to tell that this is gonna be a good one.”
With sessions ongoing, the band are preparing to ramp up activity in 2026. Plans include:
- a new studio album
- updated visual artwork
- expanded merchandise
- refreshed live sets with new features
Concept sketches have already been sent to the band’s illustrator, hinting at a fresh visual direction. Fans may recall how early artwork from The Passing of Time later surfaced on bootlegs—there’s a chance history could repeat.
Glacier originally formed in Oregon in 1979, with the name inspired by a street in Black Butte Ranch. After releasing their cult EP in 1985 and disbanding in 1990, the band re-emerged in 2016 as Devil in Disguise for a tribute performance at Keep It True XX. That lineup—featuring original vocalist Michael Podrybau alongside Kopecky, Michael Maselbas, Michael Mendoza, and Alfonso Cuevas—would go on to reclaim the Glacier name in 2018.
The current lineup includes:
- Michael Podrybau – vocals
- Michael Maselbas – guitars
- Vincent Ippolito – guitars
- Adam Kopecky – drums
- Alex Barrios – bass
Since their return, Glacier have toured across Europe and the Americas, released The Passing of Time in 2020, followed up with “Spears of the Empire” and a 2023 demo, and continued to build momentum with international shows.
