Release date: 5th September 2025

8–11 minutes

Today is the day that Ambush release their Napalm Records debut “Evil in All Dimensions. The album delivers high-intensity heavy metal rooted in classic influences, with a sound that balances tradition and precision. It marks a new milestone for the Swedish five-piece, known for their disciplined approach and consistent output.

Since forming in 2013, AMBUSH has become a recognized name in the European metal circuit. Their style draws from foundational acts like Judas Priest, Accept, and Iron Maiden, but the execution is clean, focused, and built for contemporary audiences. Their catalogue reflects a commitment to structured songwriting, dual guitar harmonies, and direct lyrical themes.

Live performance has played a central role in their rise. AMBUSH has appeared at Muskelrock and other respected festivals, earning a reputation for tight sets and minimal theatrics. Tours with ENFORCER and COBRA SPELL expanded their reach, placing them alongside established names in the genre and reinforcing their status as a reliable force in modern heavy metal.

Evil in All Dimensions continues that trajectory, offering a refined take on speed, melody, and power. The band’s sound remains grounded in the genre’s core, but the delivery is sharper than ever.

Review

From the first tom rolls, “Evil In All Dimensions” launches into a barrage of rapid-fire picking and shimmering lead work that sets the tone with grandeur. The opening verse shifts into darker terrain, where the vocals arrive drenched in emotion and conviction, pulling the listener deeper into the track’s ominous atmosphere. The chorus hits hard, thick with power and driven by thunderous kick drums as the title line, “Evil In All Dimensions,” rings out like a battle cry. A second verse follows, now layered with tasteful guitar licks and hints of backing vocal harmonies that add depth without losing momentum.

The chorus returns, catchier than ever, and it’s impossible not to sing along. The guitar work intensifies, evolving with fiery embellishments before the track plunges into a breakdown of tortured screams and echoing. Then, like a phoenix rising, the solo explodes at full velocity.Fully charged guitars roar beneath a blistering solo that spits sparks and fury. This is exactly the kind of craftsmanship fans expect from Ambush. The final chorus arrives even more electrified, bolstered by rich vocal harmonies, before the song circles back to the majestic melodic theme introduced at the start.

“Maskirovka” kicks off with a “dum, de-de dum” chugging guitar and loose chords that set the mood before the rest of the instruments come in with real swagger. The vocals arrive rich and powerful, and the backing vocals are a standout, creating a huge bed of sound that feels almost magical. It genuinely gave me goosebumps.Sixteenth-note hi-hat patterns keep the momentum going throughout. The track sits at a mid-tempo pace but has so many layers that pull you in and take hold of your attention. I found myself headbanging, tapping my foot and just getting completely drawn in.

The chorus is especially effective. Everything drops to just the word “Maskirovka” and I can easily imagine fans shouting it back before the instruments slam back in. The darker backing vocals in the verses add real depth and make the whole song sound massive.Later on, there’s a harmonised guitar section that’s absolutely magnificent. It felt like I was being lifted beyond the clouds and stars. Few bands capture that feeling of being swept away like Ambush do. It’s immersive, almost cinematic.Towards the end, the drums fall away and the focus shifts to vocals and guitar before everything returns for a final chorus and outro with darker undertones. It’s a brilliant finish to a track that balances power, atmosphere and emotion.

Iron Sign kicks off with a blast of furious riffs that hit hard and fast. The Swedes know exactly how to deliver thunder and intensity. This one demands headbanging and pulls you in straight away. The verses are packed with tight riffing and bold, aggressive chords topped by commanding vocal lines. The chorus is built around big shouts of “Iron Sign” that feel made for fans to sing along. But then, a solo drops in with a short, fiery burst of notes that’s hot to the touch. Another verse follows continuing the charge, then another massive chorus gives fans another chance to sing along. I found myself uncontrollably raising my fist while sat in my room reviewing this, which says a lot!

The breakdown brings in big open chords that shift back and forth, leading into a harmony section soaked in heavy metal magic. The lead guitar scorches, the rhythm section drives forward, and the production lifts everything to another level. It honestly gave me shivers. That killer tone, lifted straight from classic heavy metal, is exactly what I live for. The next solo holds its own, keeping the energy high. Soon after, the final chorus pushes things even further with super high-pitched backing vocals that are wild. I honestly wondered how deep Oskar had to go to even reach that height. Truly gobsmacked! In a nutshell, I honestly just wanted to sing my heart out. This track is excellent.

The Night I Took Your Life comes in meaning business with even more driving riffs and power. A mid tempo stomp is the feeling I get straight away! And when the vocals come on the verse it just injects a lot of character and emotion in to the song. A great little harmonised bridge plays out before we drift into the velvety chorus that packs a punch. Theres more of the main hook and another huge sounding verse before we get stuck into another bridge. This time lifted by a big bed of backing vocals before heading for another chorus! The solo in typical Ambush fashion electrifying shooting bolts of notes to the skies. Colossal chants follow giving fans something to join in with (something which I always enjoy especially). They soon enough we return to another kick ass chorus before that driving main riff takes us out.

I Fear The Blood takes us away from the metal for a moment and transports us to soft acoustics and singing lead guitars that sparkle. Oskar’s vocal work throughout is filled with passion taken straight from the heart and like other Ambush tracks really lift the tracks. The song does develop by introducing the rest of the instruments while retaining the slow moving pace.It is that type of song that you can sway to and really feel the music. When the huge roaring rhythms kick in they literally go straight through you helping you to properly feel the song. The band write fantastic songs and this is an example that helps to bring balance to the album. Karl and Olof know how to deliver electricity with the lead and solo work here. Another great addition to what is already stacking up to be an exceptional album.

Come Angel Of Night brings back the fire setting everything ablaze. The quick riffing and luscious licks that weave in and out are glorious. Theres a sense of urgency and the kind of pausing riffs only add to this feeling. The drum work especially the double kick sections by Linus are like thunder. I just feel that there are moments where the band work to the solid rhythm sections before exploding with intensity and excitement. I especially love where the band nosedive into the darkness, a huge pit before solos fire full engines and jet out and speed. What can I say this track, has the energy the speed and all the fist pumping action you could want to walk away satisfied!

If you love like that classic heavy metal sound where the bass and kick bounce together on a four to the floor style beat then the The Reaper delivers this. Once again I am just caught by how fricking cool this track sounds. Its got twinges on nostalgia and then the those harmonised lead licks for the chorus section are so sexy. And when the solo section came In I just wanted to pretend to air guitar and rock side to side like I was playing to huge crowd. Once again this is pure magic and has all you could want from a solid mid tempo Ambush number! Most excellent!

Bending The Steel is one of those songs to get your teeth sunk into. The intro riff is hella meaty and the heavy metal screams just drench the opening section. Straight away I am getting classic heavy metal vibes, like the riffs and ideas have been lifted straight out of Priests ideas book. If i could describe it in any way it feels like a beast on a Harley Davidson motorbike charging its way down fiery roads. The rhythms on this track are super thick and stacked and if you are listening to this for the first time turn this up to 11! The vocal work like other ambush tracks on this album are full of character and energy. Even the the stuttering chorus lyrics are an interesting touch when they are used in the right moments! The solo work just left my ears quite literally smoking and I just wanted more. But later on there is this section that builds over and over adding a different feel to the song before we get another huge dose of “Burning the Steel” lyrics screams and much more! One of my favourite tracks so far! I just hope they play this when I see them live!

Heavy Metal Brethren opens with ferocious riffing and immediately triggers an unstoppable headbang. The album has delivered quality throughout, and this track is no exception. The songwriting remains tight and powerful, carefully shaped into a fiercely catchy anthem. The chorus, built around the song’s title, has a silky, memorable flow, and the group shouts that lead into the harmonised section are bound to catch on with fans in time. Dazzling lead riffs are everywhere, weaving their way into your mind with ease. This is a song made for singing shoulder to shoulder with fellow metalheads, beer raised high.

Conclusion

From the instantly catchy “Evil In All Dimensions” to the fiery charge of “Bending The Steel,” Ambush have delivered a record that feels cohesive, confident and built to last. The songwriting is sharp across the board, with standout choruses, dynamic shifts and lead work that consistently elevates the material. Whether leaning into atmosphere or going full throttle, the band maintain control and clarity throughout. This could well be one of their strongest releases to date, and one that reinforces their place in the heavy metal landscape.
