Throwback Thursday:Inquisición (Chile)

Inquisición, a Chilean heavy metal band founded in 1993 by guitarist Manolo Schäfler (member of the death metal band Torturer), made their debut with the album Steel Vengeance, a solid work featuring virtuosic neoclassical style guitars, a powerful rhythmic foundation, and a high-toned baritone voice reminiscent of King Diamond. The album caught the attention of specialized critics for its refined, fast, and skillful sound.

Among the standout tracks are Innocent Sinner, a fast-paced piece with rapid guitar lines and progressive touches; Pagan Rites, notable for its syncopated rhythmic patterns and quick breaks; and Steel Vengeance, an instrumental that showcases the Chilean musicians’ impressive compositional abilities.

The band remains active, with their latest release dating back to 2016, Preacher and Lust, contributing several albums to a style of darkened heavy metal, enriched with satanic themes and virtuosic guitar work closely aligned with masters like Steve Vai and Yngwie Malmsteen.
