Wytch Hazel release new single “The Citadel” taken from their fifth album, “V: Lamentations”

Wytch Hazel have unveiled their latest single, “The Citadel,” a standout track from their newly released fifth album, V: Lamentations, available now via Bad Omen Records.

“The Citadel” is a resolute and emotionally charged composition, steeped in the band’s unmistakable blend of melodic clarity, spiritual weight, and medieval atmosphere. With its stately pacing and richly layered instrumentation, the track evokes a sense of solemn grandeur — a reflection on inner fortitude and sacred refuge.

“It’s about the idea of a spiritual stronghold,” says frontman Colin Hendra. “A place of safety and conviction in the face of uncertainty. It’s one of the most meaningful songs we’ve written.”

Produced by longtime collaborator Ed Turner, V: Lamentations continues Wytch Hazel’s evolution, refining their sound with greater depth, nuance, and emotional resonance. From the aching vulnerability of “I Lament” to the luminous closer “Healing Power,” the album offers a deeply immersive listening experience, shaped by Turner’s meticulous production and the band’s unwavering creative vision.

V: Lamentations is available now in a range of formats:

  • CD Edition with 8-panel booklet
  • Digital Download in 24-bit/48kHz high-resolution audio
  • Deluxe Slipcase Vinyl Edition with exclusive 7″ single, slipmat, and poster

“With V: Lamentations,” Wytch Hazel continue to carve out a singular space in the rock landscape — reverent yet forward-looking, grounded yet transcendent. “The Citadel” is both a cornerstone and a call to reflection.
