I wanted to share a few updates to let you know where things are at and what to expect over the coming months.

At the moment, content might be a little lighter than usual as several members of the team are off for various personal reasons. I’m working hard to get as much out as I can for our amazing readers. There’s so much brilliant new music out there and never enough hours in the day to cover it all!

Interviews

We’ve been calling on bands to submit their music, news, and interview requests – this really helps us keep the content flowing! If you haven’t heard back from us regarding an interview, it’s because I’ve got a mountain of emails to get through and I’m playing catch-up. I know a few of you have been in touch asking for updates – I’ll get back to you very soon. Thanks so much for your patience!

Site merch

We recently put out a survey about launching official site merchandise! As you know, the site is funded solely through donations and advertising; it’s always been about the music, not profit. We’ve had loads of great feedback so far, but before we launch a merch campaign, we’d love to gather more insights into what you’d like to see. The more input we get, the better chance we have of making it a success!

What we cover

I recently shared a post to clear up some confusion about what we cover here on the site. Here’s a quick summary:

At The Nwothm, we feature a wide variety of bands from around the world. As the genre has evolved, more and more bands are blending in elements from other styles – and we’re here for it.

While Nwothm remains our core focus, we also see it as an umbrella for related styles. Here’s what else we cover:

Epic heavy metal
Heavy-doom
Nwobhm – though we don’t focus too heavily on it, as many other sites already do
Speed metal and power metal – especially when bands mix these with traditional heavy metal

You’ll see the occasional crossover, but Nwothm will always be at the heart of what we do. There’s probably more I’ve missed, but hopefully that gives you a clearer picture!

What is next?

We’re always exploring new content ideas to break up our usual reviews and interviews. Recently, we introduced Throwback Thursdays, where we spotlight classic bands from the past. We’ve also got one or two longer-form pieces on the way so stay tuned!
