Ringlorn is a heavy metal project founded by Gabriel “Leirbag” Kouliakis in 2022, combining the power of epic and Teutonic metal with arcane, mystical lyricism to create a unique sonic vision; the mystagogy of Ringlorn’s arcane metal. All music, lyrics, and artwork are crafted by Kouliakis, with exceptional musicians contributing to bring the project to life. The Chapter I demo EP featured Gabriel on bass, Takis Jnm on all guitars and supplementary enhancements, and Harbinger on lead vocals. The full-length release Tales of War and Magic included Gabriel on bass, Mark J Dexter on lead vocals, and Takis Jnm once again handling all guitars and enhancements.

Review

Today I am checking out the new single “Arcane Metal from Greek epic heavy metaller’s Ringlorn. Personally I have never heard of the Ringlorn so I am really curious to check out this band and see what they have to offer!

The first impression I got from the music is that I can imagine the band playing in an ancient underground temple simply from the production. Candles flickering and the smell on incense lingering in the gloom. From raw and crisp guitar riffs that drift on top of looming bass lines and pounding drums that echo through the soundscape. The vocals feel like a story being told by a cloaked druid or something in that vein.They are rich and blend perfectly into the musically. But what I typically love about this song is the colossal, deep and shadowy choir vocals that act as a bed to the lead vocals. They actually make the whole song feel boundless in size. As if your a person standing under the watch of towering statues. The lead/solo work that is dotted throughout is absolutely excellent.From the dark eerie main riff to glittery riffs it has a wonderful balance.The tones are crystal clear and the harmonies are spot creating a feeling of exciting as if you are on an epic journey. The ending section of the song where the vocals soar and the solo takes centre stage is truly magical giving the song a heroic feel. This is the type of song I will have to revisit over and over again as it just has that affect.

The lyrics deliver a powerful blend of dark fantasy and classic metal energy, with vivid, evocative lines like “forged in blood-stained anvils” and “black candles flicker” setting a ritualistic, otherworldly tone. The recurring chorus, “Arcane Metal / Made by fire,” is memorable and anthemic, anchoring the song in themes of mystical power, vengeance, and sorcery. While the focus is more on atmosphere than narrative, the lyrical imagery is cohesive and cinematic, fitting perfectly with a heavy, dramatic sound.

Conclusion

In all, this track is a masterclass in atmosphere and storytelling through sound. Every element—from the evocative lyrics and commanding vocals to the soaring solos and thunderous rhythm section—works in unison to transport the listener to a mythic realm of fire, shadow, and sorcery. It’s the kind of song that doesn’t just play; it summons. Whether you’re drawn to its raw power, rich textures, or immersive world-building, it leaves a lasting impression and demands repeated listens. This isn’t just music, it’s an incantation.
