The A Chance For Metal Festival (ACFMF) once again proved its importance to the underground metal scene with an unforgettable event. From May 1 to 4, the Kulturhalle and surrounding meadows in Ochtendung became a lively gathering place for fans, musicians, and supporters. The festival featured 15 live performances, the dedication of around 70 crew members, and hundreds of visitors from across Germany and Europe.

“ACFMF 2025 was more than a festival. It was a feeling,” said the festival director from the organizing association ACFM e.V. “The energy, the sense of community, the pure goosebumps moments. That’s exactly why we do this.”

Behind the Scenes: A Collective Effort

Such a large-scale event would not be possible without the tireless efforts of volunteers. Over 70 people worked across multiple days on tasks ranging from stage setup and entry control to food stalls and logistics. Organizers described the crew as the backbone of the festival and expressed deep appreciation for their commitment and passion.

Festivalgoers also played a key role in shaping the event. Their enthusiasm and positive spirit created a welcoming atmosphere, while their participation in the traditional BANDBOX vote demonstrated the strength of the community. This year’s vote resulted in 327 submitted ballots, 902 band mentions, and 224 different bands. These insights will help guide the planning for future lineups and show how engaged and passionate the ACFMF audience continues to be.

As one attendee remarked, “The ACFMF feels like coming home. Loud, honest, familiar. You won’t find a more authentic underground experience.”

Future Uncertain, Hopes High for 2026

At present, it remains uncertain whether ACFMF will return in 2026. The financial situation is under review and a final decision is expected in the coming weeks. If it proceeds, next year would mark a major milestone as the 20th anniversary of A Chance For Metal.
