Viral announce new album “The Merchant”

Swedish heavy metal band Viral is proud to announce the upcoming release of their highly anticipated new album, The Merchant, set to drop on August 15, 2025, in both digital and physical formats. Known for their powerful blend of classic heavy metal and modern intensity, the Linköping-based band continues to push boundaries with their latest offering a dark, melodic journey through themes of power, conflict, and control.

The striking album artwork has been crafted by renowned artist Mattias Frisk (Mattias Frisk Art & Illustration), whose evocative style perfectly captures the mood of the record.

Emerging from the New Wave of Traditional Heavy Metal in the 2010s, Viral has cultivated a unique sound deeply rooted in the genre’s legacy while embracing contemporary influences. Their music is marked by strong melodies, sharp riffs, and an electrifying stage presence.

Following the success of their self-funded 2021 album mixed by acclaimed producer Niels Nielsen (In Flames, Ghost, Dead Soul) which garnered praise from critics and fans alike, Viral has performed alongside prominent acts such as Enforcer, Universe, Wolf, Crystal Eyes, Kryptos, and Eclipse.

For The Merchant, the band once again teamed up with Niels Nielsen to deliver a production that meets the highest standards. With this new release, Viral aims to further solidify their place in the Swedish and international heavy metal scenes.
