Witchspëll is a speed/ heavy metal band hailing from Morelia, Mexico that was formed back in 2016, and in the nearly 10 years of the band’s birth, they have released 5 singles, with their first EP released in 2019 (“Demons“)and two Full length albums (“Witchspëll”, “The Blind Disease“). Witchspell is the modern twist to some good, classic rock and roll/ heavy metal with themes that dance around witchcraft, sci-fi, and horror.

Review

“Midnight Witch”– Listening to the single, you are instantly greeted by a nice guitar intro that oozes pure rock and roll. It is almost sleezy as well, upbeat and catchy. Vocals by Adrian Carbajal are also great in the track, and harmonize well alongside the guitar work incorporated into this track. It gets your head banging, and personally it gets you in a good mood and going for the day. The lyrics are earworm worthy, very catchy and fun.. “Midnight Witch!” “MIdnight Witch!”

The Guitar solos are also melodic and carry the electrifying vibe of classic Heavy Metal through each and every note. It is a fairly short track, just under 4 minutes. That being said, it still delivers a pleasant and enjoyable number. The band does a great job encapsulating the essence of Witchspëll as a band with this track, especially after a brief 3 year absence.

Conclusion

“Midnight Witch” is a great sort of comeback track for the band, and as mentioned before, it does a good job with covering the essence and overall vibe of the band itself I believe. And now that a single has been released, hopefully we will get to hear even more from Witchspëll! If you are into horror, sci-fi and witchy themes, the song is a good representation of the whole band’s overall theme. I would also note to those who have not checked them out yet, to give a listen to their EP and two albums as well!
