Review
Going Faster opens up with 16th note hi-hat patterns, a speeding guitar riff and colossal panned rhythm chords. The first thing I must mention is how polished and modern the production sounds and I love it. It then blasts into a double kick and quick picking frenzy and the speed doesn’t stop there. It continues through out most of the song like a whirlwind destroying everything in its path! Carlos has so much grit to his vocals and adds a ton of character to the whole track! The choruses are where the music changes up slightly but everything just comes at you full force for the majority of the song not letting you get away! And event the solo creeps in slowly but surely spicing things up and adding that extra bit of heat to this already hot mix!We return to the style of the intro before a last chorus to take us out!
Got Nothing starts with panning phasing riffs, some cymbal smashes before stomping into action! Big bashing 4/4 drum patterns and some tasty riffage take control before driving things into verses. The bass and drums carry things along while the riffs just keep coming and the vocal work delivery is smoking hot. The group shouts of “got nothing” add to this totally rad song. But I think for me the one part that blows things apart is the insane drum breakdown in the later half! The speed, the intricate details and intensity make you think what just happened? Everything just makes me want to headbang and pump my fists in the air! But then we reach another solo that soars to heavens before a last chorus and double kick outro that ups the intensity! Awesome!
Hell Breaks Loose
Another electrifying panned riff tears through the mix, igniting a surge of flames, speed, and pure aggression. The music rockets through the clouds at warp speed, only pausing briefly with tempo shifts that add dynamic structure and keep the listener locked in. But the real highlight for me? That thunderous slam of floor toms paired with another scorching panned riff, leading us straight into a classic metal stomp that gleams with intensity. It doesn’t last long, though—we’re soon catapulted into a solo section where everything erupts at full blast. And once again, Carlos, like on the previous two tracks, doesn’t fall short—his vocal delivery is nothing short of superb!
Conclusion
Thunderslave have literally blown my speakers to pieces and I am afraid to touch any anything incase I get electrocuted! This 11 minute EP is absolute killer and filled with so much excitement and sheer intensity, I am totally left wanting more! Could this potentially make my top 10 of the year? Maybe!
