Recently Manchester based band Heavy Sentence called it quits which was a big shock to the metal community. And now, out of nowhere pretty much, the one and only Thriller have called it a day as well just as they have reached their peak. Julian from the band released this statement on the bands social media:
Some of you might’ve noticed the Thriller merch store has been offline for a few weeks now, and we haven’t posted in a while… unfortunately, there’s a reason behind that. We had an awesome year – honestly, probably the best one of my life.At least I can say that for myself. We met so many amazing people and got to play some of the most badass heavy metal festivals I used to only dream about. So first of all: Thank you. To everyone who came to a show, bought some merch, or just took a couple of minutes to hang with us after the gig – you made our 2024 unforgettable. But yeah… sometimes things don’t go the way you planned. And we had a lot of plans… Unfortunately Chris decided to leave the band. And since he and Phil had such a strong connection and great vibes, Phil didn’t want to continue without him. After taking some time to think, Arnold and Vic also said they didn’t feel like going on under these circumstances. And that kind of left me standing there wondering what’s left to fight for…
I’m really sorry if this is disappointing to hear especially for those of you who, like me, were already hyped for a new album. But at the end of the day, everyone has the right to follow their gut. If someone feels it’s time to move on, that’s totally fair. BUT: Every ending is also a new beginning. Some of us will definitely keep making music and find our place in the metal world. I can promise you that. And me? You’ll hear from me again. That’s for sure. Will there ever be a new version of Thriller? Or will I maybe join another band that needs a singer? No idea yet. But honestly, wouldn’t it be boring if we already knew what the future holds? Let’s stay excited and keep our focus on what really matters: Heavy Metal I wish you all an amazing 2025. Go to shows, keep supporting the scene and maybe we’ll run into each other somewhere down the road. Until then – metal hugs and a massive THANK YOU for everything Julian “Julez” Mason // THRILLER P.S.: If you know a band looking for a singer, let me know
