Danish traditional speed metal band Crucible today release their brand new single title “Embrace of Steel” taken from their debut debut “on From The Vaults.”
The music for the song started out as a straight forward speed metal song inspired by Enforcer and Racer X but without a specific theme attached. Suddenly one day the title ‘Embrace of Steele’ hit me out of nowhere and after it became obvious to me to draw the inspiration from one of my favorite movies: ‘Highlander’. An 80s movie about Immortal warriors fighting through the centuries to a kickass Queen soundtrack. Excellent.
Phil came up with all the memorable vocal melodies which really help elevate the song to a whole new level and bring a epic sword and sorcery edge to the song.
For the guitar solo all I knew was that it had to have a climax with harmonized ‘hero’ arpeggios. The first part of the solo was just a ‘go for it’ and ‘more is more’ improvisation in the saddest key of all, D minor. It works.
