QUICK INTERVIEW: THE SCEPTER (CANADA)

The Scepter have plenty to celebrate as they have just signed to the mighty metal label No Remorse Records! The band are also really busy finishing up their new album and preparing to embark on a tour around Canada. We were able to catch them for this quick interview!

THE NWOTHM: Hey there Scepter please introduce the band to our readers at thenwothm.com !

Vocals-Kelsey

Guitar- Josh, Morgan

Bass- Stew

Drums- John

THE NWOTHM: What inspired you to come up with the name The Scepter for the band?

S:We came up with it while watching the Heavy Metal movie. There is a scene in the movie that is centered around a magical scepter.

THE NWOTHM: How did you decide on your musical direction and what influences from the past and present have helped you to carve your sound?

S:Having grown up with heavy metal, it was the only logical choice for musical direction. We are influenced by Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, helloween, Running wild and Riot to name some past bands, and present bands like enforcer and skull fist.

THE NWOTHM: If you could go for a beer with anyone from the past or present, dead or alive who would it be and why? What would you want to ask them?

S:I would like to go for a beer with Rolf from Running Wild and ask him to do some shows/festivals in North America.

THE NWOTHM: How would describe the nwothm/heavy metal scene in Canada? Any stand out bands?

S:I think the nwothm scene here is growing stronger and stronger. In our city there aren’t very many nwothm bands but there are some stand out bands from Toronto and out west like Riot City, Gatekeeper and Skull Fist to name a few.

THE NWOTHM: Can you tell us more about the artists behind your artwork(s)?

S:Our logo and artwork was done by a tattoo artist from Ottawa by the name of Jesse Germs. We wanted to pay homage to the heavy metal movie and classic 80s animation which is right up his alley style wise.

THE NWOTHM: You shared the stage with the mighty Hammerfall and Ross The Boss! How was that?

S:It was great meeting/sharing the stage with such legends in a much smaller venue than they usually play. Massive bands like that often skip over Ottawa, so it was cool that they came through.

THE NWOTHM: Do you have any exciting touring plans for 2023? Any big shows of festivals you want to highlight?

S:We will be playing a run of dates in Ontario and Quebec in July. Follow our social media for more details!

THE NWOTHM: Will Scepter be writing/ releasing new music in 2023?

S:We will be entering the studio in the next few months to finish recording our full length album coming out on No Remorse Records, release date TBA.

THE NWOTHM: Where can people check you out on social media and buy your music/merch?
