Italian warriors Sleazer are currently in the midst of celebrating the release of their most recent album ‘Deadlights’ and so we thought it could not come at a better to catch up with the band. Check out this latest interview…

THE NWOTHM: Hey Sleazer thanks for agreeing to this interview! Can you start by telling our
readers where you are from and can you introduce us to the band?
Sleazer: 80’s vibes -Hi everyone! We are Sleazer, heavy/speed metal band from Italy since 2011!
THE NWOTHM: How did the band form and is there any insightful story surrounding its
formation?
Sleazer: The band was formed in 2011, we were younger and we wanted to play heavy metal, during
the years, and after many line up changes, we have found the right balance. ”Deadlights” is
our latest album and you can hear all the passion and all the efforts that we put into it!
THE NWOTHM: Where did the band name Sleazer come from?
Sleazer: The initial (and silly) idea was ”Sleaze Miner” or something like that, we were pretty rough
and musically ”dirty” so we wanted to include the word ”sleaze” in our band name, that’s
why ”Sleazer” was finally the best name that represented us.
THE NWOTHM: Since the bands formation what moments in your career would you say you
are most proud of?
Sleazer: Probably our first important gig with the band ”Vision Divine” and maybe our first
experience abroad, in Malta supporting ”Evil Invaders”.
THE NWOTHM: As a band who would you say your biggest influences have been?
Sleazer: As you can imagine there are lots of influences in our music, there are some bands which
had a great impact on our artistic formation. I think Savatage and Riot are our mainly
influences for the ”old school” section, while Enforcer and Skull Fist are the newest ones.
THE NWOTHM: Where did you learn to play/ sing?
Sleazer: Everyone in the band has his experiences, in my case I started to play guitar at the age of 11. During the years I’ve studied in some guitar academies and I have taken several diplomas. I’ve also started to attend singing lessons four years ago.
THE NWOTHM: What is the Nwothm scene like in Italy? Is there any other bands from your
area that you would tell me to check out?
Sleazer: There are a few bands which are very good! Check out Bastet, Hellraiser and Witchunter!
THE NWOTHM: Touring is a massive part of life for any band or artist! Do you have any
interesting stories from being on the road?
Sleazer: Sadly we made only one mini tour in France in 2019, which was an amazing experience and
we really want to be back on the road again to play for 5-6, maybe 10 gigs in a raw, it would
be fantastic!!
THE NWOTHM: What gives you inspiration for your lyrics?
Sleazer: Personal experiences, as well as some of my favourite writers such as Lovecraft, Stephen
King, Michael Moorcock, Howards, etc…
THE NWOTHM: Can you tell us about your most recent release ‘Deadlights’ and any
background information to the music? How did the songs come about?
Sleazer:
Sleazer: Except for the intro and the last song of the album, all the music and most parts of the
lyrics are mine. Every time I was struck by something such as movie or a book, I felt inspired
and I started to write the lyrics. At the beginning I created a chorus, a melody, or maybe a
guitar riff, then I built all the song structures. At the rehearsals we arranged the music all
together and checked if everything was ok.
THE NWOTHM: Where did the idea for the ‘Deadlights’ artwork come from and who created
it?
Sleazer: It was an idea of mine, I wanted to create something evocative and with some 80’s vibes,
that’s why we chose to include the smoke, the lights, the girl and the old Alfa Romeo on it!
THE NWOTHM: What shows have you got coming up for 2023? Will we see any big touring
plans for this year?
Sleazer: Even though at the moment it’s quite hard to organise a concert in Italy and Europe, we
managed to arrange a few shows in Italy in May and June. Moreover we are looking forward
to playing in France and Germany in October, we really hope so!
