THE NWOTHM: For those who don’t know who you are, can you tell us the name of your band,
who is in the band and where you are from?

S.O.C: Our name is Sons Of Cult. The formation is: Vicente Paya (Unbounded Terror, Golgotha,
Bis.nte) and Dan García on guitars, Jaume Vilanova on vocals, Vicky Offidani on bass and Jordi
Segura (myself) on drums. The band is from Palma de Mallorca, Spain.

THE NWOTHM: How did the band form and are there any interesting stories surrounding its
formation?

S.O.C:The band was formed at the end of 2020 in the midst of a pandemic, when Vicente Payá told
me about the possibility of forming a band to play classic Heavy Metal. We immediately
contacted Jaume Vilanova because he was the type of voice we wanted. In mid-2021 Vicky
Offidani entered the bass and at the beginning of 2022 Dan García entered the other guitar.
We have always been clear that we not only wanted to do what we had heard and with which
we had grown musically, but that we had to create our own style. But based on clear premises.
Classic guitar riffs, sober and forceful drums and rhythmic bases and recognizable guitar solos,
which you can remember for their musicality. And above all, it had to be heavy sung, avoiding gutturals and other more let’s say “contemporary” forms.

THE NWOTHM: Since the formation of the band, what important milestones have you
achieved?

S.O.C: It is early for that, we are newly formed and we have just started. Perhaps the milestone is
having tried to create their own style and having consolidated a group with great enthusiasm.
And hopefully we can do many things together.

THE NWOTHM: Can you tell us any fun/interesting facts about the band members?

S.O.C:A few. We could start by saying that the band is made up of experienced musicians and others
completely new. Vicente Payá is the most experienced of the band and we can say that we are proud and
delighted to take him out of his comfort zone, which is death metal (Unbounded Terror) or
Doom (Golgotha).

Jaume Vilanova has experience in other bands like Whormaggedon or a War Pigs (tribute to Black Sabbath), so when they tell us that his voice resembles Ozzy they are right!
Dan García did have some experience in other bands, but both Vicky Offidani on bass and
myself (Jordi Segura) on drums are completely new to this. And since I’ve only been playing for
2 years, I’ve been learning rhythms as we released new songs.

THE NWOTHM: Can you tell us about your most recent release(s) and any background
information about the music? How did the songs come about?

S.O.C:We have just released our first LP “Back to the Beginning”, made up of 10 songs + a bonus
track that is a cover of Desert Song, by MSG. The composition process is as follows. Vicente Payá is the main composer, then they are arranged by Maria Jesús LLadó (Bis.nte, Golgotha). Jaume Vilanova does the lyrics and Dan composes most of the final guitar solos. And I try to give my stamp to the drums.

THE NWOTHM: What shows do you have for 2023? Any important performance that you
would like to highlight?

S.O.C:The most important right now is on February 18, where we will do the official presentation of
“Back to the Beginning. We are still preparing the calendar of performances.

THE NWOTHM: Any other plans for 2023? Being a new year, what do you hope to achieve in
the coming months?

S.O.C: Mainly that we are known as a band and we are recognized for our sound, as well as achieving
great sales of our Lp Hahaha. And let’s see if we make our first outings to perform outside of
Mallorca
