There are a lot of quality bands from Sweden and one of those is the one and only Vypera! I recently caught up with the band to find out a bit more about them and what they have got coming up for 2023!
THE NWOTHM: For those who do not know who you are, can you tell us your band name,
who is in the band and where you are from?
VYPERA: We are Vypera, from Sweden. We started this band in 2016. The members are:
Andreas Wallström – vocals
Christoffer Thelin – guitars
Andreas Andersson – bass
Johan Pettersson – drums
And guestguitarist kind of Ced Forsberg.
THE NWOTHM: How did the band form and is there any interesting story surrounding its
formation?
VYPERA:We started out as a cover band playing the songs we love! At that time Andreas(Bass) played the
drums and Johan was not known for us. Then we rearranged and started doing our own material and
while writing the songs Andreas played more bass and guitar so we just filled the drum chair with
the amazing Johan instead.
THE NWOTHM: Since the bands formation what big milestones have you achieved?
VYPERA:Oh, there is a lot of milestones for us, the biggest is the response we have got on this “eat your
heart out” album, and then of course we have the thing that Frontiers took us under their wings!
And the fact that our music is kind of just “classic hardrock sound” that was/is important to us, and
it seems like the critics agrees.
THE NWOTHM: Can you tell us any fun/ interesting facts about the members of the band?
VYPERA: Johan is in to Death Metal haha.
THE NWOTHM: What bands and artists have influenced you and helped you to carve your
sound?
VYPERA: Icon, Wasp, Triump, Savatage, King Kobra and Judas Priest is the recipe!
THE NWOTHM: Can you tell us about your most recent release(s) and any background
information to the music? How did the songs come about?
VYPERA:This debut album is mad over 3 years, except for “fantasy” “Spellbound” and “Standing on the
edge – piano”! Those three songs was kind of emergency solutions as Frontiers wanted more
songs then we had when we got signed. The songs it both fictional and self experienced, and most of the writings is made by Andreas Wallström and Christoffer Thelin, but with help from the other guys of course!
I think our first own song ever is “Straight for the kill”
THE NWOTHM: What shows have you got coming up for 2023? Any major performances
you would like to highlight?
VYPERA:We have got some request that we will announce as soon as possible;) but right now at the
moment we are pausing a bit because our singer Andreas is having annoying salivary gland, and
some trouble with his vocals thanks to that, but a surgery is planned as we speak! This spring and
on we will be back stronger than hell!
THE NWOTHM: Any other plans for 2023? With it being a new year, what do you hope to
achieve in the upcoming months?
VYPERA:We will keep that a secret haha.. but you won’t be disappointed! We promise!

THE NWOTHM: is there anything else you would like to mention?
VYPERA:We don’t rest at all, so we will come for you both live and on record, hopefully Vinyl next time
right?!
